Liverpool have announced their fourth first-team signing of the 2025 summer transfer window.
Liverpool fans were promised a busy summer window, and indeed, the window has been nothing short of busy so far.
Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez have been added to Arne Slot’s team for a combined transfer fee that is close to £200m.
And now another player has arrived, with Liverpool announcing that they will sign Freddie Woodman from Preston North End this summer.
“Liverpool are set to sign Freddie Woodman on a free transfer,” a statement in the club’s official website read.
“The 28-year-old has agreed a contract with the Reds to bolster the goalkeeping ranks upon the expiry of his previous deal with Preston North End.
“Woodman will begin pre-season training with Arne Slot’s squad when they reconvene at the AXA Training Centre next month.”
The 28-year-old has previously played in the Premier League with Newcastle United, who sold him in 2022 after a number of underwhelming loan stints away from St James’ Park.
Woodman signed a three-year deal at Deepdale, but his contract expired at the end of the season, making him an appealing target.
Liverpool have now made a move for him, and he is set to provide cover for Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
